Playground Under Water

May 3, 2004

There remains an issue with the cribbing and pea gravel area surrounding the base of the play structure that concerns the residents of Royalwood.  It appears that this is the lowest area in the whole park (including a forested area as well as a soccer field) which acts as a drainage basin at times of excess water.  For instance, the photo taken on April 5, 2004 show the water level several days after the bulk of the snow had melted.  There is so much water that the equipment is unusable.  This also occurred many times last summer after heavy rainfalls.  It would be several days later that the cribbing area would be dry enough for playing.  Even this past Wednesday, April 28, after several days with no significant rainfall, puddles remained in the centre of the cribbing.  At any location within the cribbing I could move the stones away barely an inch and I would hit water.
